Deer stand

Raised blind

November; fog; war in Ukraine and Gaza; father of a little daughter Paula since May; haven't built a treehouse for months; couldn't I at least build some high seats?; round call to hunting friends; then the ray of hope!

Paul initially says he needs 2 high seats, from which, after a joint inspection of his fallow deer enclosure, a spacious stand is created, suitable for both observation and sundowners or even overnight stays for several people.

It is covered by a steep, muddy slope and offers a beautiful panoramic view of the peacefully grazing animals through its large windows. Due to its elevated location, it offers a wonderful view into the tiered landscape of the Weinviertel.

This time, I use rough-sawn black pine boards from Paul's supplies as material. A full glass door serves as both entrance and source of light.

Due to the season, the construction period is spread over around 10 relatively short and cold working days in December and January, which I spend all alone in the beautiful nature under the curious eyes of the fallow deer. Only attaching the stand parts requires the assistance of a second person. Due to the muddy access roads, I have to put on snow chains several times or make the approach on foot, loaded with backpack and toolboxes, always accompanied by Liesl, my BGS dog.

Of course, afterwards, everything hurts for weeks again because I exhaust myself completely as usual. But it was wonderful!
